The death of Uruguayan footballer Juan Izquierdo, aged just 27, has once again filled the world of football with sadness and pain. The Nacional player has passed away at the Albert Einstein hospital from the Brazilian city of São Paulo, where he had been hospitalized since last Thursday with a critical neurological condition after collapsing during a Copa Libertadores match.
“It is with deepest pain and shock in our hearts that Club Nacional de Football announces the passing of our beloved player Juan Izquierdo. We express our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones. All of Nacional is in mourning for his irreparable loss. RIP. Juan, you will be with us forever,” his club announced on social media. The tricolor club’s message highlights.
Likewise, Nacional’s great rival also spoke out about the footballer’s death: “Club Atlético Peñarol deeply regrets the death of Juan Manuel Izquierdo, former player of our institution. We express our deepest condolences and embrace their families.his friends and the Club Nacional de Football in this time of great pain.”
The Uruguayan Football Association also expressed its condolences: “We deeply regret deep pain and sadness at the death of Nacional footballer, Juan Izquierdo. Our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time. RIP.”
Argentine teams joined these messages of condolences Boca Juniors and River Platethe Brazilian Sao Paulo and Fluminese, Colo Colo of Chile, Olimpia of Paraguay, Alianza Lima of Peru and Juventus, as well as the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), among others.
Renowned players have also spoken out on social media to bid farewell to Juan Izquierdo.
