Jakarta, VIVA – Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anun, who is also a PDIP member, admitted that he contacted Anis Baswedan before running for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

“I had time (to communicate with Anies). Yes, in fact, on Sunday or Saturday I called Mr. Anies, who actually connected the DPD chief. I told Mr. Anies, ‘Mas bismillah, I hope.’ We are compatible,’ I told him,” Pramono said in South Jakarta, Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
A potential candidate for DKI Jakarta governor, Anies Baswedan, revealed that his visit to the DPD PDI-P office in Jakarta was aimed at discussing various issues related to the 2024 Jakarta presidential election.

He explained that the match in question was when Anies visited PDIP DPD. Pramono believes that his relationship with Anies is good.
“It suits us, right? If you come to DPD PDI Perjuangan, you can ask Mr. Anies, even me and everyone have a very good relationship, I even interacted with Mr. Anies,” he said.

It was previously reported that the PDIP had selected Pramono Anung – Rano Karno as its candidate for the Jakarta gubernatorial election. On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, Pramono-Rano will be registered with the Jakarta General Regional Election Commission or KPUD. This also puts an end to previous speculations about Anies Baswedan being promoted.
Rana Karno is the former governor of Banten and also a member of the People’s Democratic Party of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Pramono is a senior politician of the PDIP, former general secretary of the party. Pramono was also the vice president of the DPR RI in 2009-2014. Currently Pramono is the cabinet secretary of the government of President Joko Widodo.
As for being elected by PDIP General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri, Pramono admitted that he was surprised. He said that during all this time he had never asked to be removed, so he had this hope. However, the politician from Kedir, East Java, stressed that if this is the decision, he will work hard.
“I did not expect, I did not ask for and I never expected, but when this decision is made, I will seriously try and work hard to fulfill the mandate,” Pramono Anun wrote on his social media account, as quoted by VIVA, Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

On the other hand, PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Treasurer General Ollie Dondokambey said that Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung is willing to participate in the 2024 Jakarta presidential election contest.
“Yesterday, Mr. Pramono received a call from his mother and asked him to run for DKI governor, that’s all. Mr. Pramono was coordinated with some people, it turned out that he was ready, that’s all. Yes, he called his wife and apparently at the request of mom, yes, he is ready,” Ollie told reporters on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
