Liverpool are confident a serious ACL injury will not be an issue in 2022 and Slott will look to carefully manage Chiesa’s game time.

The 26-year-old is known to have turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia to join Liverpool.

Mamardashvili joined from Valencia for £25m but will remain on loan at the LaLiga club for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old is seen as the long-term successor to Alisson, who was linked with a departure this summer.

In terms of spending, Liverpool have acquired several young players. Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg were sold to Brentford for £20m, while Red Bull Salzburg paid around £10m for Bobby Clarke.

Salzburg also signed Stefan Bajcetic on a season-long loan as he looks to continue his development after recovering from a serious hamstring injury, while Calvin Ramsay and Luke Chambers have been loaned out to Wigan.
